IV. b. Merge “Soils_Clip” and “Landuse_Clip” Layers

We only need information for the polygons within the watershed boundary so it is necessary to clip them to the exact size of the ‘Delineate Watershed’ polygon created in the previous step.
In this exercise, you will:
  • Use ArcToolbox
  • Use the Batch mode to Clip multiple features

    1. In “ArcToolbox” expand Analysis Tools → expand Overlay → Right Click Union → open

    2. Select “Soils_Clip” and “Landuse_Clip” Layers in the “Input” dropdown menu

    3. Name Output Feature Class “Soils_Clip_Union”

    4. Uncheck “Gaps Allowed” box

    5. Select OK → Close box after function executes
