III. c. i. Create an intersection between the easement and parcels

In order to evaluate the cost of the easement, we must know where our path crosses property. This is determined by an intersection function in ArcGIS. We are going to intersect the easement buffer layer with the parcels layer.

    1. Open the Arc Toolbox by selecting the toolbox icon

    2. Expand “Analysis Tools” then “Overlay” by left clicking the “+” to the left of the selection

    3. Double click on “Intersection”

    4. Select the drop-down arrow in “Input Features” and select the layers of interest (parcels and created buffer).

    5. Choose an appropriate location for the Output

    6. Select OK
