We have a line that indicates the route for the easement path, but an easement will actually have a width as well. This is a product of installation process. So here, we will create a buffer around the line to account for the easement width.

  • Implement ArcMap analysis tools
  • Create a buffer

    1. Open the Arc Toolbox by selecting the toolbox icon

    2. Expand “Analysis Tools” then “Proximity” by left clicking the “+” to the left of the selection

    3. Double click on “Buffer”

    4. Select the Line layer as the Input Feature

    5. Specify a location and name for the buffer layer to be saved

    6. Specify the Linear unit as “Feet” and Select the appropriate easement width (20 ft)

    7. Click on “OK”
