II. c. i. c. Making layers translucent

You may not have noticed, but there is ortho-photo imagery beneath the map layers (i.e. ortho1 thru ortho9). In order to view this along with the map data, we need to make some layers translucent. Apply these steps to any polygon layer that blocks the ortho-imagery (i.e. roads, structures, and water)

In this exercise, you will:
  • Navigate the layers properties
  • Apply transparency to a layer

    1. Right Click the layer’s name that is to be made transparent

    2. Select Properties

    3. Locate the “Display” tab

    4. Specify the level of transparency in the box labeled “Transparency
    5. (Note: a higher percentage = more transparent, try 60% and see how you like it)
