II. a. Renaming Layers

Once we have uploaded our layers, we need to organize them into something understandable. Let’s start at the layers box to the left of the map, and rename some layers

In this exercise, you will:
  • Locate the layers legend
  • Open a layer’s properties
  • Change the name of a layer

    1. Right Click on “Transpo_Polygons” in the Layers section

    2. Select Properties

    3. Locate the “General” tab

    4. Change the name in the box labeled “Layer Name” to an apt description (e.g. roads, rivers, lakes, railroad, etc.)

    5. Press "OK"
