I. f. Saving the project

Save the progress you have made thus far and periodically save your work throughout the project.
In this exercise, you will:
  • Save the project

    • Text Version:
    Left click "File" >> Left click "Save As..." >> Locate a directory that can be accesed at a later time >> Type in a file name that is appropriate, such as GIS_Lab6_Group1". Ensure that "save as type:" is set to ArcMap Document [*.mxd]. >> Left click "SAVE" button.

    Note that the .mxd file includes associations to the layer files that are included in the project, but does not save the layers themselves. Therefore if the layer files are moved to different directories, the associations must be re-established for the .mxd file to be reopened correctly.
