VI. b. Create a statistical sum table

The total number of certain population groups for the area of Texas being examined can be found using the Summary Statistics Tool. The Summary Statistics Tool will perform calculations on entire columns or rows of your data layer tables, which can be useful for finding something like total population in the area being examined.
In this exercise, you will:
  • Use the Summary Statistics Tool

    1. Double click Summary Statistics tool in the tool box

    2. In the Input drop down menu choose the Census_Clip

    3. Note the Output Tables label

    4. From the Statistics Field(s) drop down menu choose the White field

    5. In the next menu under Statistic Type choose sum

    6. Repeats steps d and e for the fields Hispanic, Males, Females, AGE_Under5, Age_30_39, Age_65_up, and all 7 of the exposure groups you created in step VI.a

    7. Click Ok -> Close
