The census tract has census data for things such as ethnic and age groups. These attributes are attached to polygon shapes based on census areas. By adjusting the coloring of the census tract patterns of where ethnic groups are concentrated and ozone levels can be compared.
In this exercise, you will:
- Change the polygon colors based on a ethnic group

- Make the Census Tract polygon layer a multi-colored layer based on an ethnic group assigned in class. Right Click the Census
- Properties -> Symbology tab
- Left click the Categories name in the “Quantities” Name in the show box to the left
- Left click “Graduated Colors”
- In the Fields box under Values select the ethnic group you have been assigned (White, Black, . . .)
- In the "Classification" box choose 8 for Classes
- In the "Color Ramp" choose an appropriate color ramp, different from that chosen for the Ozone layer
- Click Apply -> Click OK
